The Mystery in Amsterdam

Wow, what a tooth-pulling exercise this has been.

The key part of the holiday is 1 week in Amsterdam, October 2-9. For the last however-many-weeks Sheryl and I have been perusing , probing and street-viewing apartment accommodation offerings in Amsterdam.

It was easy in theory to stick to your guns, but after the countless hours of searching the 'Criteria' seemed to wax and wane with the frustration.

So although we have now sent off our selection to the rental agency with a non refundable deposit, we still don't know if we have the apartment, or if its available, or for that matter where the thing actually is. Coupled with the fact that there seems to be a limit of about 6 poorly composed photos, and two paragraphs for description on the rental sites, it's just educated guess work as to its suitability.

You see, for security reasons, they wont give out the address details of the apartments until you actually get into the city and collect the keys. So we have to assess the suitability and location literally with some detective work. "Eliminate everything else that impossible". I could go on, but...

The apartment still hasn't been confirmed, so more detail here, today, is probably a waste, but, in the end, cost became a major factor for selection.

Its probably a topic worthy of more philosophical discussion about choice, but that's for another space in blog land.

We are up a gear now, luggage is being packed, itineraries reconciled and printed, technology charged.

I have to check on the skype status and will post the details here.

Three more sleeps..
